Icea Reed, 98 of Montezuma and formerly of What Cheer, passed away Sunday, July 1, 2012 at the Montezuma Nursing and Rehabilitation Center at Montezuma, Iowa. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in Montezuma. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at the funeral home. Interment will be held at the Sixteen Cemetery at Thornburg, Iowa. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
Icea Mae Reed, daughter of Harley William Rose and Esther Gardener Rose was born on May 26, 1914 at Rose Hill, Iowa. She attended school at the Davenport Country School near Delta, Iowa. She worked at the Dugger Grocery Store and was married on August 28, 1946 to Cloyd Haskel Reed at Union Chapel in Delta, Iowa. The couple moved to the Reed farm near Webster where they farmed for several years. They later moved to What Cheer. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in What Cheer. Icea enjoyed cooking, crafts, crocheting, gardening and helping her neighbors.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Cloyd, two sister Ina Mae Rose and Florence Irene Lee; a brother Harold Warren Rose; two foster sons, Earl and Dale Yearian; and a foster grandson Joseph Yearian.
Icea is survived by her son Larry (Connie) Yearian of Grinnell, her brother Harley Dale Rose of Montezuma, her grandchildren Michael and Mellisa Yearian, many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and great great nieces and nephews.
